| Okay, time to bring you bang up-to-date with all of the First Eastern Counties ex London Vehicles.
Now let me start by saying that all of the Wright Handybus bodied Dennis Darts have all been now sold - with the biggest percentage sold for scrap (but not all of them).
G121 YEV (shown above) is still going strong in Lowestoft and Norwich and has been treated to a First Barbie 3 (Willowleaf) Livery - with exactly the same thing happening to brother G122 YEV. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the next one in line - G123 YEV. This was moved from Norwich and Lowestoft, sent to Kings Lynn and now, because of a few faults, has been withdrawn, engine removed and is now waiting in the yard to be sent for scrap. After a lifetime in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, G125 YEV has joined longtime serving G126 YEV (also in Willowleaf Livery) in Lowestoft - may I say, both still in full operating service. G128 YEV is still a long time serving Ipswich vehicle.
H101/4 KVX has been sent from Norwich to Kings Lynn. H102/3 KVX are still in Norwich. The latter now in Willowleaf livery.
Now here comes the hard part - G46-56 XLO. Well, lets kick off with G46 XLO. Now in Willowleaf livery, it has been sent from Caister Road, Great Yarmouth Depot, to Kings Lynn and, due to more newer and reliable fellow Olympians, it is seeing the same fate as G123 YEV. G47 XLO was sent from Caister Road to Ipswich, engineers at Ipswich looked over it and found it was strongly not fit for service and was unfortunately wihdrawn and sold for scrap. G48 XLO was sent from Caister Road to Lowestoft and 1. is now in full Willowleaf Livery and 2. still in service to this day. G49 XLO was used in full operating service for Norwich until a while ago, saw less service as it became a spare for older Olympians and now apparently withdrawn and sold for scrap (The last two points are strongly un-confirmed). G50 XLO was repainted in Willowleaf Livery, sent from Caister Road to Lowestoft and is still in full operating service. G51 XLO was reliveried to Willowleaf Livery, sent from Caister Road - Norwich, did a good stint doing service there, sent from Norwich to Kings Lynn and, to this day, still operates service there - although by the end of 2008, its future will, like many other First Eastern Counties vehicles and fellow Kings Lynn Olympians, be under serious threat from newer low-floor double deckers I'm afraid. G52 XLO was also repainted into full Willowleaf Livery and was sent from Caister Road to Norwich, but this one is still in full operating service there. G53 XLO was sent from Caister Road to Norwich and to this day, is still apparently doing service there. Its still a Norwich based Olympian but, lately, uncertain about what is going on with this one. G54 XLO was reliveried to Willowleaf Livery, sent from Caister Road to Lowestoft and is now in full operating service, G55 XLO was also relieveried to Willowleaf Livery and sent from Caister Road to Kings Lynn and, like G51 XLO, is still in full operating service - though, like sister G51 XLO, it's future is in serious jeopardy to the end of 2008. Finally G56 XLO - a long time serving Norwich based vehicle but, like sisters G49 XLO and G53 XLO, I can't guaruntee on what is happening lately with these vehicles. (G49/53/6 XLO - still in full operating service (unlikely), service spares (most likely), withdrawn (again, most likely), sold (doubtful - although G56 XLO is rumoured, and only rumoured, to be sent for scrap along with G54 XLO (unlikely and unproven)). |
